Vera Bradley has recalled all of its Bear Ring Rattles and Bunny stuffed animal toys because the toy’s pom-pom tail can detach from the body of the bear rattle or the bunny, posing a choking hazard to a young child. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) posted the recall announcement yesterday.
The recall involves about 97,000 Bear Ring Rattles and Bunny stuffed animal toys sold from September 2012 to January 2014. The toys are made of cotton and fleece. The bear rattle measures about 4.25 inches in diameter and has a white teddy bear head, with arms attached to an O-shaped rattle body with a green, blue, brown and pink crisscross pattern. The bunny is 10 inches tall from head to foot and was available in three different prints, Lillie Bell, Lola, and Tutti Frutti. Every recalled toy has a white pom-pom tail attached to its back. The toys have the Vera Bradley name and serial number printed on a tag attached to the toy: Lola bunny, serial number 007590013357145; Lillie Bell, serial number 0000630012803140; Tutti Frutti, serial number 0000630012803142; and Bear Ring Rattle, serial number 007590013234135. The toys were sold at Vera Bradley stores, department stores, gift shops, and online from at Vera Bradley and other online retailers. They were priced from $12 to $19.The company has received two reports of pom-poms detaching but, to date, no reports of injuries, according to the CPSC.
The CPSC instructs parents and caregivers to immediately take these toys away from young children. The toys should be returned to Vera Bradley for a full refund.
