Walmart Trampolines are being recalled for fall hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just announced.
The large recall of 92,000 Sportspower BouncePro 14′ Trampolines has been initiated over reports of a number of injuries.
The Sportspower BouncePros were manufactured in China by Sportspower Limited, of Hong Kong; imported by Walmart Stores Inc., of Bentonville, Arkansas; and sold exclusively at Walmart stores, nationwide, from February 2009 through February 2012. The recalled Sportspower BouncePros retailed for about $275.
The netting surrounding the Sportspower BouncePros trampolines can break, allowing children to fall through the netting and suffer injuries. To date, Sportspower has received 17 reports of the net breaking. The defect has also resulted in 11 injuries, including broken bones, back and neck injuries, and contusions.
The recalled Sportspower BouncePro 14-Foot Trampolines are constructed with brown mesh netting. UPC 68706404210 and 68706404244 can be found on the trampoline box and the words and codes “Sportspower BouncePro 14” and “TR-14-63-A” are printed on a plate on the leg of the trampoline frame. The brown netting that surrounds the recalled Sportspower BouncePro trampolines measures about six-feet in height on the perimeter of the trampoline. The netting is designed to contain individuals bouncing on the trampoline.
The firm advises consumers to stop using the recalled Sportspower BouncePro trampolines immediately and contact Sportspower to receive replacement black netting for the trampoline. Sportspower’s customer service hotline can be reached, toll-free, at either 1.866.370.2131 or 1.888.965.0565 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Eastern Time (ET), Monday through Friday; at the firm’s web site at http://www.sportspowerltd.net/recall-bouncepro-14ft.html; or by email to Sportspower at [email protected].
