Wegmans supermarket chain is recalling ravioli because it may contain white plastic. The affected product is Wegmans Italian Classics Striped Ricotta & Spinach Ravioli, 9 oz. (UPC # 0-77890-38934). One date code is affected. The recalled ravioli was sold between Aug. 2 and Aug. 30, 2016. The recall only affects ravioli products with a use or freeze by date of Sept. 30, 2016.
Wegmans says the recalled products have been taken off the shelves. The supermarket recalled 1,638 9-ounce packages of ravioli. The products were distributed to 90 Wegmans stores in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland and Massachusetts.
The recall was issued after Wegmans received reports of white plastic pieces in the ravioli. So far, no injuries have been reported. Wegmans sells the ravioli in the dairy department. The product is produced by O’Sole Mio in Quebec, Canada and comes packaged in a plastic tray.
