A former trainee priest has been jailed in Hong Kong for child sex abuse.
Insurance agent Michael Lau was found guilty of sexually abusing a teenager in the dormitory of a church 12 years ago.
Lau, who trained to become a priest in 1991, was jailed for four-and-a-half years.
He is the first person associated with Hong Kong’s Catholic clergy to be convicted of sexual abuse following complaints against priests in the territory.
The exposure in Hong Kong followed similar cases that came to light in the US, which tarnished the image of the Catholic Church.
