Wegmans Food Recall Chicken Products. On January 5, 2016 the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that Wegmans Food Markets Inc. was recalling approximately 1,125 pounds of chicken products that were produced without required federal inspection.
The uninspected chicken products were produced on January 3, 2016; the recall was announced on January 3. The recall includes:
- Approximately 1-lb. vacuum-sealed packages containing “Wegmans Italian Flavored Chicken Breast Cutlet” with a use-by date of 1/24/2016.
- Approximately 1-lb. vacuum-sealed packages containing “Wegmans Brown Sugar Barbecue Seasoned Chicken Breast Cutlet” with a use-by date of 1/15/2016.http://admin.yourlawyer.com/home.php/ynews/edit.html?ser=20623
- 3-lb. vacuum-sealed packages containing “Wegmans Garlic & Fennel Whole Chicken Roaster” with a use-by date of 1/13/2016.
- 1-lb. vacuum-sealed packages containing “Wokery Sherry Chicken 27482” with use-by date of 1/13/2016.
Recalled Products
These products bear establishment number EST. or P-7567 inside the USDA mark of inspection. The recalled products were shipped to distribution and retail locations in Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
Although there are no confirmed reports of adverse reactions related to consumption of these products, the USDA says anyone concerned about symptoms should contact a doctor.
FSIS inspection personnel discovered the problem during a review of establishment records. Wegmans had changed its production schedule and these chicken products were produced outside approved hours of operation. The USDA says that consumers should not eat these products and should be return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
FSIS routinely conducts checks to verify that recalling firms have notified customers of a recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
