According to an online news report posted on foxcarolina.com, more than one million Electric Panels manufactured by Schneider Electric have been recalled due to thermal burn and fire hazards. The safety recall announcement was issued on June 16 and stated that the “hazard involves a loose neutral screw connection within the QO Plug-On Neutral Load Center.” The affected circuit breaker boxes were manufactured from February 2020 through January 2022 and have date codes between 200561 and 220233. Also included in the recall are all circuit breaker boxes with covers made between December 2019 and March 2022. The recall states that the affected catalog/part numbers are located inside the electrical panel doors.
Schneider Electric issued a statement declaring that the inconvenience is regrettable, but the company considers safety its highest priority. Schneider Electric is also asking distributors, retailers, and homeowners who purchased or installed the recalled electric panels to contact them. Schneider Electric will arrange to have the panels inspected by trained electricians to decide if a repair or replacement is required. The inspection, as well as any repair or replacement or repair, will be performed at no charge.
Customers are encouraged to visit Schneider Electric’s website to read all pertinent information concerning the recall and the methods to schedule an inspection. Schneider Electric also plans to contact affected customers via mail.
