The recall affects popular brands such as Aussie, Pantene, Herbal Essences, Old Spice, Waterless, and Hair Food aerosol spray products. According to the FDA’s Risk Statement, Benzene is a known human carcinogen, and exposure to Benzene occurs through inhalation, skin absorption, and consumption.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states that Benzene is linked to an increased risk of life-threatening blood and marrow disorders, blood cancer, and leukemia. Benzene is omnipresent in the environment and is created in natural and artificial processes.
The Procter & Gamble Company is recalling the products out of an abundance of caution.
The following is a list of the aerosol spray products that may be included in the recall:
The affected aerosol spray products are packaged in aerosol cans.
No other aerosol spray products from Aussie, Pantene, Hair Food, Herbal Essences, or Waterless are part of this recall, and those items may continue to be used as intended. The recalled aerosol spray products were distributed throughout the United States via retail outlets and online retailers. All retailers were cautioned and asked to remove the recalled products from their shelves.
