According to a news report published on bestlifeonline.com, more than 48,000 Allen + Roth 62-inch wide 5,120-BTU infrared quartz electric fireplaces are being recalled due to a wiring connector defect. On December 9, 2020, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) declared that the Allen + Roth 62-inch wide 5,120-BTU infrared quartz electric fireplace sold exclusively at Lowe’s Home Improvement stores and online at Lowes.com is subject to a recall due to a fire hazard.
The safety recall notice inner states that the wiring connectors in the Allen + Roth electric fireplace heaters can overheat and start a fire within the electric space heater. So far, Allen + Roth has received 28 reports of the electric fireplace heaters emitting smoke and catching fire leading to property damage, smoke inhalation injuries, smoke damage, and possible home fires that could cause burn injuries and fatalities.
The Allen + Roth 62-inch wide 5,120-BTU infrared quartz fireplaces sold at Lowe’s for approximately $700 per unit. The units were sold between January 2013 and April 2018. The recall was initiated after reports of the units’ internal wiring connectors overheating and creating a potentially dangerous fire risk. According to the news report, there have been several reports of smoke damage caused by the heaters.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), those who own a recalled Allen + Rott infrared quartz fireplace should stop using the heater immediately and contact L G Sourcing to obtain a free repair kit and to initiate a free in-home repair.

The recall affects Allen + Roth brand 62-inch wide, 5,120-BTU infrared quartz electric fireplaces are sold exclusively at Lowe’s. The fireplace’s item Number is 466656. The recalled electric fireplaces are contained in a cherry wood-colored cabinet. Each unit comes with a remote control and a built-in thermostat. The front of the fireplace has an insert that simulates a wood fire and produces heat. On the backside of the packaging, there is a white label with the following printed on the label, “FEBO Flame Electric Fireplace Model Number ZHS-30-A”.
