WASHINGTON, DC – A news story posted on cumberlink.com is reporting that Global Home Imports has initiated a recall of its H.R. platform bed frames due to a crushing hazard. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the latest dangerous consumer product to be recalled is a platform bed frame that poses a serious crushing hazard that may result in severe injury or death.
Global Home Imports stated that although the company has not received any reports of injuries or deaths, their H.R. platform frames have been involved in over 100 reports of dangerous collapses.
The recall involves bed frames that were sold under the brand name Bed Tech and with model numbers HR33, HR33XL, HR46, HR50, HR60, and HR66. The bed frame is described as steel frames finished in black with navy blue plastic clips.
The Bed Tech bed frames were sold at Mattress Firm and other furniture and mattress stores nationally from April 2020 to January 2021. Purchasers are urged to discontinue using the frames and contact the company at BedTech.com to receive a free repair kit. The new kit includes metal clips to reinforce the frame. Bed Tech will ship the kit directly to consumers at no charge.
