Stroller safety
USA- NWGN writes that stroller manufacturer A Better You! has issued a recall following findings that the Belecoo stroller is in violation of safety standards. Reports indicate that the child’s torso can become stuck between the tray and the seat leading to a risk of strangulation.
The crotch area can also become detached, creating a risk of falls.
The company is instructing consumers to cease the use of the product and is offering a full refund.
Products sometimes prove to have unanticipated risks to consumers after they have already hit the market. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is tasked with announcing recalls of such products. It is important to check for recalls on children’s products, including car seats and sleepers.
According to safety experts, parents should seek out cribs that are from June of 2011 or newer as these meet modern standards. Earlier versions are often less safe and may have been subject to an earlier recall. Recalled products are often sold at garage sales without the seller being aware of the fact that the recall was issued. It is important to check to make sure that the product does not have a known defect.
Products are often recalled because they create a choking hazard. Anything with a small part or that has a small part that can become detached can create the risk of choking.
Tipping furniture is a known hazard as well. Statistics indicate that a child died about once every two weeks in an accident caused by tipping furniture. Parents can reduce these risks by anchoring furniture and the television to the wall or floor.
Even new products prove to have defects, so it is a good idea to register products so that companies can contact the consumer in the event of a recall.
