BMX Recall Bicycles Due To A Fall Hazard. A bicycle company is recalling about 53,000 BMX bicycles because the stems that connect the handlebars to the frame can loosen during use, causing riders to fall.
Dynacraft Industries, Inc., of San Rafael, Calif., has received 35 reports of loosening stems, resulting in one injury, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.
Recall Includes Two Models Of BMX
The recall includes two models of 20-inch BMX bicycles. The Next Voltage model is metallic green and has model number 8535-99. The Vertical Street Blade model is dark blue and chrome-colored and has model number 8527-99.
Wal-Mart stores nationwide sold the Next Voltage model from May 2002 to Nov. 2002 for about $70. Pamida stores sold the Vertical Street Blade model nationwide from April 2002 to April 2003 for about $80.
