Bowflex SelectTech Barbell Injury Lawsuits
PROVIDENCE, RI – A news report posted on WPRI.com states that Nautilus, Inc., has initiated a recall of about 3,700 Bowflex SelectTech 2080 Barbell with Curl Bar sets due to a defect that causes the weight plate to fall off from the end of the barbell, causing serious injury. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Bowflex SelectTech 2080 Barbell with Curl Bar was sold online and in sporting goods stores throughout the United States from June until July 2020. The barbell sets were sold at Play It Again Sports, Nebraska Furniture Mart, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and online at Amazon.com and Bowflex.com for about $550. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission states that the manufacturer has already received at least one report of the weight plate falling off.
This recall affects only the “Bowflex SelectTech 2080 Barbell with Curl Bar.” The barbell set includes one straight metal barbell and one curled metal barbell. The barbells are used one at a time. The barbell is inserted into the unit’s base, and the user can select the number of weight plates necessary to attain the desired weight by using the adjustment knob. The barbells have a red Bowflex logo on the weight selection dial. The bars are completely black in color. The storage tray has the name “Bowflex” printed on it, and the Bowflex logo is printed on the center of the storage tray.
Purchasers are warned to immediately stop using the recalled Bowflex SelectTech 2080 Barbell with Curl Bar and to contact Nautilus to receive replacement curl bars and straight bar by looking for information on the company’s website.
