Carbon monoxide death
According to an online news report from consumerreports.org, the Consumer Product Safety Commission has posted an grave recall notice concerning 63,000 Triangle Tube gas boilers. The broilers are sold under the brand name, Prestige. The recall involves Prestige Solo and Excellence condensing gas boilers that were manufactured between November 2011 and October 2019. The recall is centered around a deadly ventilation defect where flue gas could escape from the gas boilers should the vent adapter not be securely reattached to the boiler section following a repair or maintenance, leading to a carbon monoxide poisoning danger.
The company has received at least one death attributed to the issue, and there have been at least two reports of the vent tube parting from the boiler. This safety recall includes 22 Prestige models, which are listed in this CPSC recall notice. The CPSC recommends owners to contact the company or visit the company’s website for recall details and repairs. It is also recommended that owners of a recalled boiler install a CO2 detector on each floor inside their home.
