UNITED STATES – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reports that certain Cat & Jack brand rain boots have been recalled due to a choking hazard. The rain boots feature a plastic piece that can detach and pose a choking risk to children.
The boots affected by the recall were sold at Target stores around the United States and online through Google Express during January to April 2019. They retailed for around $20. The boots are pink with a white unicorn face printed on the front. The front of the boots features a multi-colored unicorn horn that can come off of the boots.
The boots were sold in kids sizes 5 through 12 under the brand name Cat & Jack “Lilia.” The model numbers included in the recall are: 093-10-4311, 093-10-4312, 093-10-4313, 093-10-4314, 093-10-4315, 093-10-4316, 093-10-4317, and 093-10-4318. About 29,000 pairs of boots are included in this recall.
Eleven instances of the horns becoming detached from the boots have been reported. These incidents did not result in injuries to any children, and no injuries associated with this recall have been reported. Consumers who bought rain boots included in this recall are advised to return the boots to any Target store in their area for a full refund of the product.
