Cottonelle® Flushable Wipes Pluralibacter Gergoviae Death Lawsuit Lawyers
Cottonelle® Flushable Wipes and Cottonelle® GentlePlus Flushable Wipes Recalled Due to Possible Pluralibacter Gergoviae Bacteria Contamination
According to cottonelle.com and other sources, Kimberly-Clark is recalling specific lots of Cottonelle® Flushable Wipes and Cottonelle® GentlePlus Flushable Wipes due to possible Pluralibacter Gergoviae contamination. Pluralibacter gergoviae, also known as Enterobacter gergoviae, is a dangerous Gram-negative bacteria (GNB) that has been linked to antibiotic-resistant outbreaks in hospitals.
Kimberly-Clark posted a recall statement on its website stating that “Individuals who have a weakened immune system, suffer from serious pre-existing conditions, have been treated surgically, or belong to another sensitive group of persons are at particular risk of infection.”
However, Pluralibacter gergoviae is often antibiotic-resistant, which makes it difficult for doctors to treat people with Pluralibacter gergoviae infections. One of the serious complications of a Pluralibacter gergoviae exposure is the risk of developing pneumonia. Pneumonia caused by this bacterium often makes patients feel less ill than pneumonia caused by Pluralibacter gergoviae has a high mortality rate.
Purchasers of the Cottonelle® Flushable Wipes or Cottonelle® GentlePlus Flushable Wipes who are experiencing health-related problems should quickly seek medical attention and discontinue using the product, according to Kimberly-Clark.
