According to cottonelle.com and other sources, Kimberly-Clark is recalling specific lots of Cottonelle® Flushable Wipes and Cottonelle® GentlePlus Flushable Wipes due to possible Pluralibacter Gergoviae contamination. Pluralibacter gergoviae, also known as Enterobacter gergoviae, is a dangerous Gram-negative bacteria (GNB) that has been linked to antibiotic-resistant outbreaks in hospitals.
Kimberly-Clark posted a recall statement on its website stating that “Individuals who have a weakened immune system, suffer from serious pre-existing conditions, have been treated surgically, or belong to another sensitive group of persons are at particular risk of infection.”
