CPSC Warned The Public About Defective Pressure Cookers. The CPSC has warned consumers to discontinue using their Welbilt Electronic Pressure Cookers immediately. The 3,500 units were manufactured in Korea by DRECO, Ltd. under model number PC501 and were sold by HSN LP (Home Shopping Network) of St. Petersburg, Florida between September 2001 and July 2002 for approximately $100.
Recalled Pressure Cookers Can Pose Burn Or Scalding Hazard
The lid on these pressure cookers can open prematurely while the contents are under pressure allowing hot contents to be expelled thereby posing a burn or scalding hazard to anyone in the immediate area. There have been 16 reports of burn injuries including at least one involving third-degree burns. Consumers with questions may contact HSN at 877-710-1527 (24 hr.) or at www.hsn.com. The CPSC hotline is 800-638-2772.
