Ellenos Real Greek Yogurt’s Mango Cup Recall
According to an online news report posted on republicmonews.com, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced the recall of Ellenos Real Greek Yogurt’s Mango Greek Yogurt cups due to a dangerous product labeling error. Ellenos Real Greek Yogurt’s media release reports that their Mango Greek Yogurt cups omitted eggs as one of the product’s ingredients on the label. The error could result in consumers unknowingly consuming eggs. Should the consumer be allergic to eggs or have a sensitivity to eggs, they could suffer a severe allergic reaction.
According to the FDA, the agency found that some 16oz cups of Ellenos Real Greek Yogurt’s Mango Greek Yogurt cups had dark brown puree and not the light yellow puree that should be inside the cup. The FDA determined through its internal investigation that the Mango yogurt cups were filled with pumpkin yogurt and the word “egg” was not printed on the Mango yogurt cup label.
Purchasers are urged to return the affected products at the place of purchase or where the recalled Mango Greek Yogurt 16 oz. cups are sold. There have not been any reports of sickness or death at this time.
The recalled Mango Greek Yogurt 16-ounce cups are packaged in a clear plastic container with blue lettering and a blue foil seal on the front. The recalled products have a “best before” date of November 28, 2021, and a UPC number of 8 57290 00612 6.
According to Ellenos’ CEO John Tucker, the company contacted the FDA, its retail partners, and distributors to notify them about the immediate recall. Mr. Tucker also stated that the mislabeled product was pulled from the market out of the company’s concern for its customers’ health and safety.
