French Lentil + Leek Crumbles Liver Injury
According to a news report posted on clickondetroit.com, more than 350 people have been harmed by Daily Harvest’s French Lentil + Leek Crumbles frozen product. The products were recalled after it was discovered that the food products were linked to abnormal liver function and gastrointestinal illnesses. More than 125 people have been hospitalized due to consuming the products. The FDA reports that the illnesses have been recorded in 37 states.
Daily Harvest initiated the product recall on June 17 after the company received reports of illness. The FDA is urging consumers not to eat, sell, or serve the recalled Daily Harvest French Lentil + Leek Crumbles products. Moreover, the FDA is advising customers who have recalled frozen products in their freezers to throw the products in the garbage.
The Daily Harvest French Lentil + Leek Crumbles food products were sold online and in retail locations. According to Daily Harvest, only the retail stores in Chicago and Los Angeles were selling the recalled frozen food products.
The recalled French Lentil + Leek Crumbles is described as a frozen product contained in a 12-ounce white pouch with the words “Daily Harvest” printed on the top, a large “CRUMBLES” under the words “Daily Harvest,” and the words “French Lentil + Leek” printed in bold. The recall affects all lot codes of the French Lentil + Leek Crumbles and no other Daily Harvest frozen food products are being recalled.
The news report states that illnesses and hospitalizations linked to the recalled French Lentil + Leek Crumbles were reported in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New y, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.
The recall announcement states that if you consumed the recalled product and suffered the following symptoms, you should seek medical attention immediately:
- Abdominal pain
- Body aches
- Nausea
- Dark urine
- Jaundice – Yellowing of the skin and eyes
- Itching with no rash
- Fatigue
- Fever
- Gastrointestinal illness
