Greenworks and Powerworks Pressure Washers Recall
WASHINGTON, DC – An important safety notice published by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announces the nationwide recall of more than 1 million Greenworks and Powerworks Pressure Washer Spray Guns. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recall notice, the Greenworks and Powerworks Pressure Washer Spray Guns have a dangerous defect causing the spray gun connector to break off. When the connector disconnects, the hose and/or parts of the connector can become dislodged, leading to an impact injury risk to the user.
MiamiHerald.com reports that there have been approximately thirteen injury incidents reported to the manufacturer, Hongkong Sun. Seven of those people injured sustained severe injuries and required medical treatment. The injuries reported include post-concussion, eye injuries, mouth injuries, and broken bones.
The pressure washer spray guns were sold on Amazon.com, Lowe’s l stores, Lowes.com, and several other online retailers. The recall affects the following models:
- Greenworks brand 2000 psi Plastic Gun Accessory kit,
- Greenworks brand Pressure Washer models (ranging from 1500 to 1800 psi),
- and some Powerworks brand Pressure Washer models (ranging from 1700 to 1800 psi.)
Each recalled pressure washer has an interior connector piece that is constructed with black plastic instead of metal.
Anyone who has purchased a recalled Greenworks and Powerworks pressure cleaner spray guns will receive a replacement unit. No refund is being offered. To receive a replacement spray gun handle or to see if your unit is affected by the recall, visit the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website.
