Washington DC – A recall announcement published by the United States Food and Drug Administration states that Guan’s Mushroom Co. is recalling its Enoki mushrooms due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The product name is “Enoki Mushrooms” and is manufactured by Guam’s Mushrooms Co. The affected mushrooms are described as slim, long mushrooms usually used in Ramen and sautéed foods.
Listeria is a food-borne pathogen that could result in fatal illness is in vulnerable groups. The affected mushrooms cover all of Guan’s Mushroom CO’s 7.05-ounce containers of you Enoki mushrooms. The mushrooms are a product imported from China. The affected Enoki mushrooms were distributed to retail stores throughout the United States. The packaging includes the Guan’s logo, and the words “Enoki Mushrooms “written in English, French, and Korean.
According to the companies recall announcement, the Listeria contamination was found during routine testing. The Guan’s mushroom company stated that they have discontinued distributing the affected in Enoki mushrooms products until further notice. The company encourages purchasers to return the product to the store in which they purchased for a full refund. The recalled notice does include The UPC codes and product codes that are affected by the recall.
Typically, healthy adults are able to recover from a Listeria infection after a short period of time.
