Jimco Lamps Accent Table Recall
WASHINGTON, DC – According to an article posted on slashgear.com and a safety alert posted on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, tens of thousands of Jimco Lamps Accent Tables with built-in USB ports are being recalled due to a risk of electrical shock.
According to the recall notice, a wiring defect could cause users to receive an electrical shock when they plug an electronic device into the stand. The recall states that the USD ports and the charging receptacles may have been accidentally wired with a reversed polarity. This means that during manufacturing, the fabricators may have flipped the “hot” and “neutral” wires. Purchasers are advised to stop using the Jimco Lamps Accent Tables immediately and to contact the company for a replacement.
Jimco Lamps new safety recall affects two of its brands: J Hunt Home and J Hunt and Co. The affected accent tables were sold nationwide at retail and online stores, including T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Amazon, and other online websites from May 2020 to December 2020. Jimco Lamps says consumers can either receive a replacement table from their company or receive a refund.
Almost 100,000 of the accent tables with charging receptacles are affected by the safety recall in the United States. Another 11,000 units are being recalled in Canada. If you purchased an accent table with USB charging ports from Jimco Lamps, visit the CPSC’s full list of item numbers.
