WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced two urgent consumer recalls recently. In the first recall, Deere & Company, better known as John Deere, announced a voluntary but important recall for its flex wing Frontier Grooming mowers. The mowers are a threat to cause death or serious bodily injury as manufactured because of a defect that occurred during assembly. The incorrect installation and assembly of the mower’s drivelines might stop the safety shield from independently, thereby creating the possibility of a person or object getting caught in the grooming mower’s blades. The recall is for John Deere’s Frontier models FM3012, GM1072, GM1060, GM3060, GM3072, and GM1190 models according to an announcement made by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. John Deere said it would repair all of the mowers manufactured with the defects at no cost to the consumer. No injuries have been reported to John Deere owing to this manufacturing defect.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission published a consumer alert warning consumers who purchased a Frontier flex wing mower from a John Deere dealer that they must stop using the product immediately until a certified technician performs the recall repairs. Authorized John Deere dealers will not charge customers for parts or service relating to the recall problem. John Deere’s representatives will contact consumers directly to notify them about the recall.
The recalled grooming mower models sold in the U.S. and in Canada. Canadian product safety agencies are also involved supervising the recall efforts for Canadian John Deere dealers similar to the manner in which the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is in the U.S.
John Deere sold the recalled Frontier mowers at their dealerships from April of 2018 to May of 2019. The prices of the mowers ranged from $3,100.00 to $16,700.00. The recalled grooming mowers are made by Woods Equipment on Oregon, Illinois under the Frontier brand name for Deere & Company.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission also announced that Walker Edison bunk beds must be recalled. Walker Edison said that in two instances, the boards that support the top bunk collapsed. No one sustained any injuries in either incident. Notwithstanding, the company decided to recall its bunk beds. Walker Edison is offering interested consumers free replacement bunk beds along with complimentary installation according to Cumberlink.com.
