According to the United States Food and Drug Administration, approximately one million heating pads sold at Walmart and Amazon.com are being recalled due to fire burn risks. The FDA is urging consumers not to use the recalled heating pads immediately. The following heating pad products are affected by the urgent safety recall:
On October 24, 2022, the distributor of the Mighty Bliss Electric Heating Pads, Whele LLC, issued a recall for three heating pad models after the company received multiple consumer adverse incident reports caused by the recalled heating pad products. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration stated that more than 540,000 heating pads were affected by the recall. The company received 286 incident complaints connected to the heating pads sparking, overheating, burning, or causing other electrical problems from July 2021 through September 2022. Of those, 31 adverse incident reports involved injuries as a result of using the heating pads, including rashes, burns, electric shocks, and other kinds of skin irritation.
The products contained in the recall include Mighty Bliss Electric Heating Pads that were distributed from July 2021 until July 2022 and were sold online through Amazon.com and Walmart.com. To see if you own one of the three recalled units, locate the product’s lot numbers and model numbers printed onto the heating pad in the black text under the product instructions.
