MTD Riding Lawn Mower Lawsuits
According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, MTD is recalling its Craftsman and Troy-Bilt riding lawn mowers due to crash risks. The recalled riding lawn mowers include the Troy-Bilt TB30 and Craftsman 30” Mini riding lawn mowers. The recall announcement states that the recalled riding mowers can fail to stop and may continue to drive even when the riding mowers’ clutch/brake pedal is fully depressed. This creates a crash or accidental cutting injury.
The recall affects approximately 6,200 units. Those who have purchased the recalled riding lawn mowers should contact either Craftsman or Troy-Bilt for information about the recall. The recall affects Troy-Bilt TB30 and Craftsman 30” mini riding lawn mowers only. These riding lawnmowers are red and black in color. The brand name, Troy-Bilt or Craftsman, is printed on the front column of the mowers. The recalled lawn mowers were manufactured from July 20, 2021 until December 17, 2022, and they have serial numbers between 1G20MB20001 through 1L17MB20228. The manufacturing dates are printed on the model plate label. The third and fourth digits or characters of the serial number specify what the manufacturing day was for the mower. For example, the serial number “1G20MB20001” would mean the riding lawnmower was made on July 20th. Months are identified by letter with the letter A (January) through L (December). The serial number, date of manufacture, and the following SKU and model numbers are located on the model plate label found underneath the seat pan. These recalled model numbers include:
- Troy-Bilt Model #13B726JD023, with a SKU#1004822873
- Troy-Bilt Model #13AC26JD023, with a SKU#1006771776
- Troy-Bilt Model #13AC26JD066
- Craftsman Model #13BC26JD093, with a SKU#CMXGRAM1130035
- Craftsman Model #13AC26JD093
