WASHINGTON, DC: – According to an online press release from NZXT and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission’s product safety recall alert, NZXT H1 computer cases have been recalled due to a serious risk of fire. The safety warning states that the metal screws used to attach the PCIe riser assembly to the computer case chassis can create an electrical “short” in the printed circuit board, causing it to overheat and create a fire hazard. The defect is in the circuit board’s design. Purchasers are warned to immediately stop using these recalled computer cases and to contact NZXT for a free repair kit at nzxt.com. While on nzxt.com, simply click the “Contact” link and the then click on the “Customer Support” link to access additional information regarding the recall.
NZXT has acknowledged that the company has received at least eleven reports of circuit boards catching fire or overheating worldwide. Six of those incidents happened in the United States.
The NZXT H1 Computer Case recall affects about 32,000 units sold in the United States, and an additional 1,024 units were sold in Canada. The affected NZXT H1 computer cases have serial numbers 1200233400001 to 1203962204202, 00648999610844189725 to 00648999610844206361, and 0120AC00100001 to 01211C01900285. The recalled NZXT H1 computer cases have the following model numbers:
The NZXT H1 computer cases have a piece of black tempered glass in the front with the NZXT brand name located at the bottom of the case. The model number and serial number are located at the bottom of the case.
The NZXT H1 computer cases were sold online at www.NZXT.com, online retailers, and in electronic stores from February 2020 through February 2021 at a price of $350.
