LAKEVILLE, Mass. — Sulfites found in an Ocean Spray product forced the company to announce a safety recall according to an article on myradiolink.com. Sulfites, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), were not declared by Ocean Spray on the packing for the company’s 5.5-ounce can of Pink Lite Cranberry Juice beverage. People allergic to sulfites or those who have sulfite sensitivities could suffer a grave reaction to the additive. Any allergic reaction could cause the victim to sustain severe injuries or even die as a result. The FDA said only one lot of Ocean Spray’s Pink Lite Cranberry juice was contaminated. The company recalled the product from retailers, supermarkets, online retailers, as well as online retail outlets.
All customers who purchased Ocean Spray’s Pink Lite Cranberry Juice should be aware of the undeclared additive. Concerned consumers should examine their purchase for the lot number MH0030LPK4. Ocean Spray sold containers of this lot as packages of six cans to a box at the retail level. Ocean Spray noted that the UPC for the case is 03120003782 4, and the individual cans bear UPC 03120003682 1. All of the products have a “best before” date of January 24, 2021, and were distributed by Ocean Spray from February 21, 2020, through April 16, 2020. The GTIN case numbers are listed as 00031200236821 and 003120024682 0.
Consumers can obtain a refund from Ocean Spray. The company suggests that the consumer should take a picture of the “best before date” if the product they bought has other identifying information that matches the recalled lot information. Ocean Spray directed consumers to email the photo to casupport@oceanspray.com for a refund.
Ocean Spray asked consumers to contact the company if they have any questions or concerns about the recall. Consumers should email the questions to the listed email address or call the company hotline.
