CPSC – A news report posted on fox5atlanta.com states that tens of thousands of Costco-exclusive snorkels are being recalled due to a defect that may cause users to drown. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Huish Outdoors is recalling about 76,000 Oceanic Adult Dry Top Snorkels. The CPSC also warned purchasers to stop using the recalled Oceanic Adult Dry Top Snorkels and to destroy the affected snorkels “immediately.”
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the affected snorkel’s bottom purge valve “can leak, allowing unexpected water entry,” leading to injury or drowning deaths.
So far, there have been 13 reports of the snorkels leaking, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. One case involved a child receiving injuries after tripping after their snorkel leaked.
Oceanic Adult Dry Top Snorkels were sold exclusively at Costco warehouses throughout the United States and online from February 2021 until July 2021. Customers are urged to visit oceanicworldwide.com for detailed instructions about how to destroy the product and how to register for a free replacement.
