CPSC Announces Four Major Safety Recalls
PENNSYLVANIA, USA — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall of four consumer products on April 8, 2021. According to the CPSC, the recalls were initiated due to potential severe fire and injury risks.
The first safety recall involves the “Animal, Heathered Plush and Luxe Sherpa Children’s Bath Wraps,” which were distributed by national retailer R.H. According to the CPSC’s recall report, these children’s robes fail to meet the federal government’s flammability standards for children’s sleepwear. This places children at an increased likelihood of severe burn injuries or fatalities to children.
A second safety recall involves the manufacturer Goal Zero’s EC8 Power Cables. The cables present a potential fire hazard. According to the safety report, “the pins inside the connector on the power cord can deform and overheat.” Goal Zero is a company that manufactures solar energy and portable energy batteries and products. If the defective power cables catch fire, the result could be a house fire with injuries or death.
The third recalled announced by the CPSC on April 8, 2021, is a set of four Epicure Prep Bowls. The recalled Epicure Prep Bowls were recalled due to the potential of sustaining a severe laceration. The company states that the tempered glass bowls have been reported to break or shatter during use, causing injury.
The CPSC’s last reported safety recall on April 8, 2021, involves the Greenworks and Powerworks pressure washer spray guns. The safety report states that affected the connector that connects to the spray gun is made of plastic and can break off, causing severe injuries when the hose and/or parts of the connector become dislodged during use. The injuries reported include bone fractures, concussions, and facial injuries.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is recommending that the final three recalled items be replaced. The CPSC states that the children’s robes should be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund. The CPSC also stated that because of the pandemic, certain remedies might not be possible. However, all owners of these recalled products are urged to stop using them.
