Recalled Craftsman Lawn Tractors Brake Can Fail. Husqvarna Consumer Outdoor Products N.A. Inc., of Augusta, Georgia just issued a recall for about 8,200 Craftsman Lawn Tractors because the tractor’s parking brake can fail, posing a loss of control hazard.
To date, no incidents or injuries have been reported.
The recalled Craftsman power lawn tractor is gray colored and has a 19.5 HP engine, automatic drive, and a 42-inch cutting deck. The following model and serial numbers are included in the recall. The model and serial numbers are located on a model plate, which can be found under the recalled tractor’s seat:

Sears Directly Contacting Consumers Who Purchased The Product
The recalled Craftsman Lawn Tractors were manufactured in the United States and sold by Sears and Kmart stores nationwide and on the Internet at www.sears.com from January 2009 through April 2009. The recalled Craftsman Lawn Tractors retailed for about $1,200.
The Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) is advising consumers to stop using the recalled tractors immediately and contact Sears for a free inspection at the consumer’s home. If necessary, a free repair of the parking brake cable will be conducted. Sears is directly contacting consumers who purchased the recalled Craftsman Lawn Tractors.
