According to an online news report posted on Yahoo News, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a safety recall alert concerning Luxe+Willow heated blankets. The recall states that the affected heated blankets can overheat and lead to fires and serious burn injuries. Luxe+Willow heated blankets are one of several different products that have been recalled due to a fire hazard during use.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission states that the Luxe+Willow Heated Blanket might overheat when the user leaves the blanket “powered on for an extended period of time.” The blanket can then accidentally cause fires leading to house fires causing property damage, injuries, and deaths.
The Luxe+Willow heated blanket is white, has a measurement of 50 inches by 50 inches, and has a Sherpa lining. The product has “L&W BIO” and “LUXE+WILLOW” on its label. The company has received three incident reports that describe the blankets as overheating. These reports triggered the recall. One of the incidents reports that a customer received a burn on their wrist. Another report states that a customer reported seeing flames.
About 4,200 Luxe+Willow heated blankets were sold from January 2022 through March 2022. The recalled heated blankets were sold at T.J. Maxx, Urban Outfitters, and other merchants.
If you or a loved one owns the recalled Luxe+Willow heated blankets, immediately stop using the blanket and unplug their blankets. Purchasers may contact the company to receive either a refund or a $50 voucher that is used to purchase other products. Customers will have to show that they destroyed the heated blankets to receive the refund or voucher. The blanket must be unplugged from a power outlet, and the electrical cord must be cut. An image of the destroyed blanket must also contain the blanket’s label. The picture must be sent to the company to verify the destruction of the blanket. Purchasers are urged to throw away the faulty blanket after destroying it.
According to the news report, MWA will be reaching out to all known buyers about the blanket recall. If you or a loved one received the heated blanket as a gift, you would not receive a letter.
