Children’s Shoes Are Being Recall For Fall And Choking Hazard. Two different types of shoes are being recalled. Wal-Mart Women’s Shoes are being recalled due to fall hazard and “CARS” Children’s Shoes are being recalled for choking hazards, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just announced.
Wal-Mart Women’s Black Sling-Back, Pointed-Toe Shoes
Importer, Wal-Mart Stores Inc., of Bentonville, Arkansas is recalling about 200,000 pairs of Women’s Shoes that were manufactured in China by Joyfair Footwear, of Taipei, Taiwan. The heels on the shoes can easily detach, posing a fall hazard to consumers.
The recall involves women’s sling-back, pointed-toe shoes sold under the George brand. The shoes were sold in three colors—black, grey, and purple—and in sizes 5 ½ to 11. The recalled Wal-Mart Women’s Shoes were sold exclusively at Wal-Mart stores nationwide from June 2008 through December 2008 and retailed for about $13.
The CPSC is advising consumers to immediately stop wearing the recalled Wal-Mart Women’s Shoes and return them to the nearest Wal-Mart for a full refund. Wal-Mart Stores can be reached toll-free at (800) 925-6278 between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday, or at the firm’s Website at www.walmartstores.com.
CARS Fleece Clog Children’s Shoes
Pagoda International Footwear Limited has recalled about 73,000 “CARS” Fleece Clog Children’s Shoes distributed in the United States and about 18,000 distributed in Canada, all sold exclusively at Wal-Mart, due to choking hazard. The shoes were imported by Wal-Mart Stores Inc., of Bentonville, Arkansas, were manufactured in China, and were distributed by Pagoda International Footwear Ltd., of Hong Kong.
The recalled CARS Fleece Clog Children’s Shoes are a red, plastic-molded clog with fleece lining, are designed to resemble a car, and have four decorative wheels that can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children. The firm has received one report of a decorative wheel detaching from the shoe. The recall involves the Buster Brown & Company “CARS” Fleece Clog Children’s Shoes.
The recalled CARS Fleece Clog Children’s Shoes were sold in infant sizes 4 to 6 and toddler sizes 7 to 11. The infant-size shoes have a strap in the back. Each side of the shoe has two red and black decorative wheels and the number “95”; “Buster Brown & Co.” and “Disney” are printed on a tag sewn inside the shoe. The recalled shoes were sold exclusively at Wal-Mart stores in the United States and Canada from September 2008 through March 2009 for between $6 and $10 (U.S.) and for about $13 (CAN).
The CPSC is advising consumers to immediately take the recalled shoes away from children and return them to the nearest Wal-Mart store for a full refund. The CPSC is also advising that for additional information, consumers are to contact Buster Brown & Co. toll-free at (888) 869-1044 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday and between 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Central Time on Saturday, by visiting the firm’s Website at www.busterbrownshoes.com, or by sending an email to [email protected].
