“Real Water” Liver Damage Cases Reported in Additional States
A news report on USAToday.com states that the Las Vegas-based “Real Water” brand is recalling its water products a week after both federal and local health officials issued public warnings about its Real Water product’s link to liver disease. A notice published on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s website declared that all sizes of “Real Water” drinking water products had been recalled due to a serious “possible health risk.”
“Real Water” products were sold on Amazon.com, the Real Water website, and in retail stores throughout the country. On Friday, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration added the 3- and 5-gallon containers of Real Water brand drinking water that were distributed in Utah.
Several “Real Water” liver damage lawsuits are continuing to be filed against the company. At the same time, the FDA, the Southern Nevada Health District, and the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention investigate the complaints now that users in more states are stating the water caused liver illness and other illnesses.
In one lawsuit, a Nevada man blames Real Water for damaging his liver and requiring him to have a liver transplant in September 2019. A federal class-action lawsuit was recently filed in the state of Nevada, while another lawsuit was filed in state court.
The FDA’s warning last week stated that purchasers should not use, drink, cook with, serve or sell any Real Water drinking water products.
Last Friday, the FDA stated that the manufacturer was not very cooperative with the FDA, and the agency has not performed an on-site investigation at the company’s facilities in Henderson, Nevada, or Mesa, Arizona. According to the news report, Real Water has not provided the FDA with the records the agency has requested. Therefore, the agency issued a Demand for Records under federal law.
Real Water is sold and marketed as a high-end drinking water product that has healthy detoxifying properties. Real Water is packaged in distinctive boxy blue bottles and has labels describing it as “alkalized” and “infused with negative ions.”
Purchasers of all recalled “Real Water” products are warned not to drink the water products and immediately discard the water products. The recalled water products can be returned for a full refund at the store of purchase. Real Water office and home delivery customers are urged to contact Real Water to have all products picked up.
