THE UNITED STATES – June 24, 2020 – According to Fox23.com, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced on Thursday that American Honda Motor Company is recalling 25,000 Pioneer ROVs due to a defect that may cause the vehicle to move or roll while in the park position, leading to a crash and injury hazards. The product defect is particularly dangerous because the roll away issue can occur while the vehicle is in the park position, according to the CPSC.
The American Honda Motor Company stated that their company had received three reports of the Honda Pioneer ROVs rolling while parked, but no personal injuries or fatalities have been reported. The recall involves certain 2019 and 2020 models manufactures by the American Honda located in Torrance, California. The CPSC recall targets the 2019 and 2020 Honda Pioneer 1000 and Talon 1000 side-by-side vehicles. The recalled Honda Pioneers include both the three-passenger and five-passenger vehicles with manufacturing years of 2019 and 202o. The recall affects only the 2019 Talon two-passenger side-by-side vehicles and the 2020 Talons two-passenger and four-passenger vehicles.
The recalled ROVs include all model colors such as red, gray, yellow, green, and blue. The manufacturer name “Honda” is located on the front, sides, and rear of the vehicle. The model names affected include the “Talon,” and “Pioneer 1000,” which are printed on a sticker that is located on both sides of the ROV. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is stamped on the left rear side of the frame on the Honda Pioneer 1000. The VIN for the Honda Talon 1000 is stamped on the frame under the left front fender and on the left side of the vehicle.
The recalled ROV vehicles were only sold at authorized Honda Powersports dealerships throughout the United States from November 2018 through March 2020.
The CPSC is advising purchasers to immediately stop using the recalled ROVs, and to contact an authorized Honda Powersports dealer to arrange a free inspection and to make the repair. Honda will be contacting all known ROV purchasers directly.
