BowTech Archery Recall Compound Bows After Posing A Risk Of Injury. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just announced the recall of two products over injury risks.

Approximately 8,000 “The General” Compound Bows have been recalled by BowTech Archery of Eugene, Oregon, because the ends of the bow’s limbs can unexpectedly break during use and send fragments of the bow in the direction of the user or bystanders, posing a risk of injury.  BowTech Archery has received 255 reports of the bow’s limbs breaking, which includes 11 reports of injuries, such as lacerations, abrasions, or contusions when pieces from the breaking bow struck the user.  The recall involves The General Compound Bows in the hunting target models with draw weights of 60 and 70 pounds that do not contain a collet—a small type of bracing ring—in the bow’s limb.

The General Compound Bows measure about 31 inches long and have draw lengths of 26-30 inches.  Hunting models were sold in both real tree and mossy oak camouflage patterns.  Target models were sold in gray, black, and wood-grain.  The General Compound Bows, which were made in the United States, are equipped with laminated wood grips engraved with the word “BowTech” and a label with “The General” located on the center pivot point of the bottom bow limb.

The recalled The General Compound Bows were sold at authorized BowTech Dealers nationwide from September 2007 through July 2008 for about $800.  The CPSC is advising consumers to immediately stop using the recalled The General Compound Bows and to contact the dealer to schedule a free repair of the defective bow.  BowTech Archery can be reached at 1-888-689-1289 anytime or at its Website at www.bowtecharchery.com.

Green Thumb Twin Wheelbarrows Plastic Rim Can Break

About 17,000 Green Thumb Twin Wheelbarrows distributed by True Value Company of Chicago, Illinois and made by Qingdao Huatian Hand Truck Co. Ltd., of China have been recalled because over-inflating of the tire could cause the wheel’s plastic rim to break, posing an injury to the user.  To date, True Value has received two reports of the plastic rim breaking.

The recalled Green Thumb Twin Wheelbarrow has tan plastic wheel rims, a black plastic tray, and steel handles and axle and sold for about $80 at True Value stores nationwide from September 2008 through October 2008.

The CPSC is advising consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Green Thumb Twin Wheelbarrows and return them to any True Value store for a full refund.  True Value can be reached toll free at 1-800-621-6025 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or at its Website at www.truevalue.com.
