Humidifiers Are Being Recalled Due To A Fire Hazard. A Tennessee company is recalling about 100,000 humidifiers because their motors can overheat and start fires.
Hunter Fan Co., of Memphis, Tenn., has received nine reports of the motors overheating, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (news – web sites) said Thursday.
Four Humidifiers Recalled Models
The four recalled models are the 32500 CareFree with a 5-gallon tank, the 3-gallon 33300 CareFree Plus, the 3.3-gallon 33330 CareFree Plus and the 3.5-gallon 33350 CareFree Plus.
The three CareFree Plus models are made of light gray plastic with a dark gray top vent and base with a tinted water tank. The 32500 model is light beige with a dark beige base and top vent.
The recalled humidifiers have date codes 15200 through 36500; 00101 through 36501; or 00102 through 06002. Model numbers and date codes are on a label on the back of the motor housing.
Stores, wholesale clubs, catalogs and Web sites sold these humidifiers from August 2000 through February 2002 for between $50 and $120.
