A Meat With Listeria Contamination Recalled A meat processor has recalled about 540 pounds of barbecued pork that may be connected to a Listeria Contamination.
Pecan Point Food Products, also known as Woodbine Farm, recalled pork that was distributed to restaurants and delis in southeastern Virginia in 5-pound tubs on Nov. 14. It was also sold at Woodbine Farm’s store in Norfolk.
The company asked for the recall Wednesday after routine testing showed a possible contamination of Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause serious infections in children and the elderly, as well as miscarriages.
270 Pounds Of Pork Had Been Returned
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has reported no illnesses resulting from the Woodbine Farm meat.
Company officials say about 270 pounds of the pork had been returned by Friday and the plant was thoroughly cleaned.
Nationally, it was the fifth recall this month of meat with possible listeria contamination.
