S.C. Johnson Recall Air Freshener Due To A Fire Hazard. S.C. Johnson is recalling 2.5 million Glade PlugIns air fresheners because they may catch on fire, Friday’s Wall Street Journal reported.
The Glade Extra Outlet Scented Oil Air Fresheners come with an electrical socket, some of which were assembled incorrectly and could cause a short circuit. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (news – web sites), which is facilitating the recall, said no fires or injuries have been reported but several defective air fresheners have been found.
Unit Are Being Pulled From The Stores
A spokesman for the closely held concern based in Racine, Wis., said the problem was discovered after about one million air fresheners had been sold. The remaining 1.5 million units are being pulled from store shelves.
The air fresheners come in Sky Breeze and Mystical Garden scents, and carry the model number SCJ079 on the back. No other Glade air fresheners are included in the recall. The CPSC said consumers should unplug the air fresheners and call the company at 1-800-571-0920 for a refund or replacement coupons.
