The Secura Air Fryers Recall and Legal Recourse for Victims
Secura Inc., a renowned appliance company, has recently initiated a recall for its air fryers due to alarming fire and burn hazards. This recall involves specifically the Secura air fryers, with noted potential to overheat owing to a wire connection malfunction within the units, posing severe risks to consumers.
The recalled products are identified as Secura air fryers with model numbers SAF-53D (TXG-DT16E) and SAF-53 (TXG-DS16). They are usually black in color, accompanied by silver accents, and the brand name Secura prominently displayed at the top of each unit. The critical information such as model numbers and four-digit date codes are manifested on the silver labels at the bottom of each unit. Each air fryer measures approximately 12 inches in all dimensions.
The company has discerned this hazard as a consequence of a defect in the wire connection which, in various instances, has been reported to overheat. Up till now, Secura has received nine incident reports where the air fryers were either caught on fire, emitting smoke, or getting burnt, though, fortuitously, no injuries or property damages have been reported to date.
This voluntary recall comes subsequent to the identification of the potential risk associated with approximately 6,400 units, with an additional 680 units sold in Canada. These products were primarily available online at Secura’s official website and Amazon.com, from May 2019 through October 2020, and the price range was between $48 and $90.
Consumers are advised to cease the use of the recalled air fryers promptly and contact Secura for a remedy. The company is offering an Amazon gift card worth $45 or a free replacement with a product of the consumer’s choice from Secura’s product range, available on Secura’s recall webpage.
Victim Recourse: Filing Your Claim
Individuals who’ve encountered damages or potential injuries due to the malfunction of these Secura air fryers might have grounds to pursue a product liability lawsuit against Secura Inc. Victims can potentially claim compensation for a variety of damages including medical expenses if any injuries have been incurred, property damage, and other consequential damages resulting from the defective product.
In a product liability lawsuit, the range of recoverable damages is extensive. Victims can seek economic damages, which include quantifiable losses such as medical bills and the cost of property damage. Non-economic damages pertain to non-tangible losses like emotional distress and pain and suffering endured due to the incident. In situations where the manufacturer’s conduct is egregiously negligent, victims may also be entitled to punitive damages, intended to punish the liable party and dissuade similar future conduct.
