Fun Cart Engine Are Being Recalled Due To A Fire Hazard. A Milwaukee company is recalling about 160,000 fun-cart engines because they can spill fuel that can catch fire and cause burns.
Briggs and Stratton Corp. has received nine reports of the carts tipping over and catching fire, including four cases where consumers were burned, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.
The engines are used only on fun-carts, which are like go-carts but for personal use.
Recalled Fun Cart Engine Models
Briggs and Stratton sold the engines to authorized distributors and dealers and to fun-cart manufacturers between May 1992 and June 1995. Stores sold them through 1997.
Engine models included in the recall are the 5HP Model Series 1352XX and FunPower Model Series 1362XX engines built on or before June 22, 1995.
The government said consumers should stop using the carts and take them to a local Briggs and Stratton dealer for free repair.
