Woman Was Killed When The Car She Was Riding Was Hit. A 27-year-old woman was killed on New Year’s morning when the livery cab in which she was riding was rear-ended at a red light in the Bronx, police said.
The silver Mercury Grand Marquis was at stopped at the intersection of a service road of the Cross Bronx Expressway and Rosedale Avenue when a fast-moving black Dodge Charger slammed into it, the New York Daily News reports. The back of the cab was crushed and both vehicles were sent spinning through the intersection.
The Woman Was Rushed To Jacobi Medical Center
The cab passenger, Pamela Pimentel, was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, where she died about a half hour later, according to police. The 37-year-old driver of the Charger, Hernan Vega, was also taken to Jacobi Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Charges against him were pending.
Earlier that morning, a 23-year-old woman was critically injured just a mile away when she was run over by a hit-and-run driver after collapsing in the intersection of Story Ave. and White Plains Rd., police said. The woman, who was believed to be drunk, was hit by a 2002 Acura heading west on Story Ave. around 2:45 a.m., according to the Daily News.
She was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center in critical condition. The driver, Edwin Rosado, 45, who lives about three miles from where the accident occurred, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with a serious injury.
