Two Women Died In A Wrong-Way Crash. A tragic wrong-way head on crash left two women dead in East Farmingdale. CBS New York reports that the accident occurred on Route 109 near Route 110 at around 11 p.m. on November 23rd.
A 70-year old woman of Islip was driving her 2012 Kia Forte in the southeast lanes when a 46-year old woman of Levittown driving northwest in a 1991 Buick Regal crashed into her head-on.
CBS reports that the police found alcohol in the Buick Regal and initially charged the Levittown woman with driving while intoxicated. Neighbors told CBS that she had been distraught upon losing custody of her son in a divorce.
The woman driving the Kia Forte was taken to Nassau University Medical Center and pronounced dead. “She was literally five minutes from work when this happened,” her daughter-in-law told 1010 WINS’. “There’s been a lot of wrong-way lately, I don’t understand.” She said that the family is devastated.
“My dad died 25 years ago; around the holidays too, so it’s going to be tough,” said the woman’s son. “I just wish people would stop drinking and driving.” She is survived by her three sons and grandchild.
“She was a great grandma, she loved her granddaughter very much,” said her daughter-in-law. Her employer described her as a “wonderful, caring woman, dedicated employee”
