Police are trying to understand how the driver of a small silver sedan lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic on Route 25A, near Randall Road. The small silver vehicle crashed head-on into another vehicle, and a large pickup truck hit the rear of the second car. The two cars that collided head-on sustained massive damage. Neighbors interviewed by the press said that the sound of the collision was a tremendous “metal-on-metal” sound. Fortunately for the drivers of those cars that met head-on, neither person sustained any life-threatening injuries. A 30-year-old driver suffered serious injuries but was expected to survive. The driver of the other car sustained minor injuries. Both received transportation to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured. Officers declined to identify any of the people involved. However, video footage of the scene captured by Long Island News 12 depicted firefighters wheeling the 30-year-old man on a stretcher to a waiting ambulance.
