Female Pedestrian Struck and Killed By a Dump Truck in Times Square
NEW YORK, NEW YORK – A news article on nydailynews.com reports that a woman was walking across a street in Times Square was struck and killed by a large dump truck on Saturday afternoon, police reported. The 64-year-old pedestrian who was killed was not identified by law enforcement. The victim was attempting to cross Broadway at W. 45th Street at around 3 pm when she was hit by the dump truck, police said.
An eyewitness described the horrific accident. He stated that the dump truck struck the woman and then dragged her when she was trapped underneath the vehicle. When the woman was pulled out from underneath the dump truck, she was not moving, and she was covered in blood. She had lost a lot of blood in the accident. The witness was working at his food truck at the accident scene, and he stated that many other witnesses were crying and screaming.
According to police, emergency medical crews rushed the victim to Bellevue Hospital for medical treatment for her severely injured leg. The victim tragically passed away at the hospital. The dump truck driver stayed at the accident scene. Police reported that they did not presume any crime in the accident. The accident is currently under investigation.
