Two Killed in Tragic, Fatal Sidewalk Accident in Brighton, New York

Fatal sidewalk accident

BRIGHTON, N.Y. — A 45-year-old woman who was babysitting for a 9-year-old girl and the girl’s two-year-old brother died, along with the 9-year-old girl after they were hit while walking on a sidewalk in a suburban area of Rochester, N.Y. called Brighton. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported that police officers who investigated the accident said that a motor vehicle flew off of the road, hit a utility pole, and then spun out of control and into the pedestrians. The 2-year-old boy is reportedly in critical condition at a local hospital. His outcome is far from certain. The community mourns the loss of the two pedestrians. The local police have the matter under further investigation. There was very little information available about the condition of the driver who lost control.

The superintendent for the Brighton School District spoke glowingly about the 9-year-old girl whose life was cut far too short. The superintendent said the girl who died was a sweet girl, who always showed that she was happy and grateful. The superintendent also called her “exceptionally loving,” according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Police had few answers after the crash. The Brighton Police Chief told the Democrat & Chronicle that the fatal incident happened around 10:25 a.m. The Police Chief said the group of people walked along Edgewood Avenue near Westfall Road when they were hit.

The babysitter who perished in the crash was babysitting three children. The collision victimized two of those children. Witnesses said that a third child was with the group but was not injured.

Officers asked for people to come forward if they knew anything about the deadly crash. Specifically, the Police Chief was interested in knowing about the operation of the driver who lost control.  The report from the scene suggested that the operator of the car was a female who had a one-month-old child as a passenger.

My husband lost his parents within 2 years. His father most recently and we are distraught over his care prior to passing. We decided to call Parker Waichman, and were greeted by Joanna. We sat and explained our story, and literally felt like we were sitting with family. Joanna went out of her way to make sure we understood every single detail, and were comfortable with our choices. Lawyers can be intimidating, but we never once felt that way. We are very comfortable with our choice to use them and would recommend anyone to use their services. (Joanna even went out of her way to hand deliver the most delicious olive oil, not sold in the U.S to our home!!)

It has been an amazingly gratifying and enjoyable experience working with PW, and making it that way is my paralegal contact ,Tina. She answers all my questions with patience, knowledge and understanding. Tina returns calls quickly and explains situations and progress clearly and all her answers are with the kind of details I request. Importantly, Tina always contacts me quickly with any status change or requirement for additional information. My case is still in progress and I am comforted to know my interaction with Tina will continue to be enjoyable, informative and interesting.
