Motorcyclist Killed in Crash with Another Vehicle

LONG ISLAND, NY- According to LongIsland.com, a motorcyclist died in a crash in Massapequa, Long Beach, New York.

The name of the victim has not yet been reported, but he was identified as a 22-year-old man who was riding a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle. The motorcyclist was traveling north on Broadway when it became engaged in a collision with a southbound 2006 Ford Taurus.

The Taurus was making a left-turn onto Boston Avenue when the vehicles collided. The collision resulted in the motorcyclist being thrown from his vehicle. The victim was transported to the Massapequa Fire Department with multiple traumatic injuries. He was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the Taurus was a 6-year-old woman who did not sustain injuries in the collision.

The authorities are still investigating that cause of the collision.

Motorcycle accidents involving vehicles making left turns are fairly common. While motorcyclists are at risk in crashes because their vehicles offer little protection, they are also at risk of becoming involved in accidents because they are smaller than other vehicles and are often involved in crashes because cars or other vehicles enter their pathway because they simply failed to notice the motorcycle.

This can help make motorcyclists more visible to others on the road. Of course, motorcyclists should also wear a helmet at all times as this can greatly reduce their risk of being killed or suffering traumatic brain injuries in the event of a crash.
