Couple Joins Lawsuit Against Southwest and Boeing

NEW YORK, N.Y. — A married couple who were flying to Dallas from their honeymoon in New York have joined a lawsuit currently pending against Southwest Airlines and Boeing. The lawsuit stems from the April 2018 incident in which a passenger was partially sucked out of the airplane shortly after leaving LaGuardia when the engine attached to the wing exploded. The women who got stuck in the window died from her wounds. The couple who most recently joined the lawsuit now pending in Manhattan Supreme Court had graduated from medical school not long before this incident. According to the New York Post, the husband tried to resuscitate the mortally wounded woman by performing CPR.

The newest plaintiffs claim that they sustained immeasurable shock, post-traumatic stress disorder, and a paralyzing fear of flying in the aftermath of the deadly April 2018 incident.  The married couple was sitting just two rows away from the unfortunate woman whose window broke with the engine seated on the wing exploded. A piece of shrapnel shattered the window and decompressed the plane. As a result, the air went rushing out of the fuselage and nearly took the passenger too. The passenger was impaled by the shards of glass protruding from the shattered window.

Passengers sprang into action, including the married couple who just joined the lawsuit against Southwest Airlines and Boeing. The husband performed life-saving measures on the woman, including CPR. As a result, the man became covered in blood. The couple claims significant emotional scars because of the incident in addition to believing that the plane was going to crash. The pilot made a safe emergency landing in Philadelphia.

The plaintiffs believe that Boeing is putting profits above safety. Their amended complaint filed in Manhattan Supreme Court claimed that Boeing failed to keep the passengers safe and show a persistent pattern of safety failures. Boeing refused to comment on the pending case.
