Honda ridgeline pickups lawsuits

According to consumerreports.org, Honda Ridgeline pickups are being recalled due to a defect that can cause the rear frame to corrode when exposed to road salt, posing a dangerous fire risk. The corrosion can lead to the fuel tank detaching. Honda reported that it would buy back any severely rusted pickup trucks. The recall affects more than 112,000 Ridgeline pickup trucks manufactured from 2006 through 2014 that were sold in states that use salt on roads during winter. The recall states that the rear frame of the truck can rust when exposed to salt. In some cases, the fuel tank can detach from the pickup truck and cause a potentially dangerous fire.

According to Honda recall documents provided to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, when the truck’s fuel tank is becoming separated from the pickup truck, truck drivers may hear noises coming from the bands that secure the fuel tank to the truck’s frame and fuel tank. Honda dealerships, at no cost to the customer, will inspect the rear frame of the affected pickup trucks to look for corrosion. Depending on what the service technicians discover, they will either repair the truck or repurchase the truck from the owner.

The Ridgeline pickup trucks are sold or registered in Delaware, Connecticut, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Massachusetts, Missouri, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Vermont, Rhode Island, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C., are part of the recall.

Honda issued a statement saying that they were not aware of any accidents or injuries connected to this recall. The company claims that there have not been any reports of fuel leaks. Honda admitted that it knowns of five customer complaints from the U.S. and several complaints from Canada concerning the rust problem.

Honda reported that it would mail owners recall notification letters on August 1, 2022. Affected truck owners may also contact Honda concerning NHTSA recall campaign number 22V430. To see if your motor vehicle has an open recall visit nhtsa.gov/recalls and search your vehicle’s 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN).
