Bicycle rider critically injured after accident
HICKSVILLE, Long Island, N.Y. — A teenaged bicycle rider remains hospitalized in critical condition after a vehicle crashed into him. According to a report appearing in Newsday, the bicycle accident happened around 9:40 p.m. The operator of the vehicle that collided with the bicycle was not injured in the crash and remained on scene. The bicycle rider was in critical condition after the crash. Nassau County police accident detectives opened an investigation into the causes of the crash.
A 16-year-old male riding a bicycle on a dark and rainy night suffered traumatic injuries in a collision with a vehicle. The Nassau County police officer reported that the crash happened at the intersection of Old County Road and Newbridge Road. The preliminary investigation commenced by the police suggests that the bicycle rider was attempting to cross Old County Road. The bicycle rider was hit by a 63-year-old man driving a 2019 Nissan northerly on Newbridge.
The teen bicycle rider sustained traumatic head injuries from the collision with the motor vehicle
Emergency medical responders transported the teen to a local hospital. The hospital listed the 16-year-old in critical condition. Newsday reported that there was no additional information available on the young man’s physical health Wednesday evening.
Nassau County police persist with their investigation into the crash. The investigating officers perform a safety check of the 2019 Nissan as part of their initial investigation. The police also performed a brake test as part of their investigation as well. The police did not comment on the car’s performance during the preliminary safety test.
