BROOKLYN, NEW YORK – September 8, 2020 – According to an online news report from NYPost.com, a senior assistant district attorney was tragically killed in a bicycle accident involving a charter bus as she was traveling to work in Brooklyn, New York. The senior assistant district attorney worked for the Kings County Prosecutor’s Office. The fatal bicycle accident occurred at the intersection of Wythe Avenue and Williamsburg Street.
The 35-year-old woman was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where she was receiving emergency medical attention to her life-threatening injuries. According to the news report, the woman received severe traumatic head injuries and sadly succumbed to her injuries and was declared deceased at Bellevue Hospital.
The Kings County Prosecutor’s Office made a statement describing their co-worker. In a statement, the Kings County District Attorney’s Office remembered their colleague and described her as a talented attorney and an avid cyclist. Eric Gonzalez, Kings County’s District Attorney, stated that she would be remembered as a brilliant and compassionate attorney who was dedicated to pursuing justice. He continued by stating that the office staff is feeling overwhelmed by the sudden loss of their colleague. The Kings County District Attorney also stated that the bicycle accident victim worked “tirelessly” to help make the Kings County criminal justice system safer and fairer for everyone. She also served on the Appeals Bureau, and she also worked with the post-conviction team to determine the cases that would be accepted. He concluded by stating she will be remembered for being a very generous and kind colleague who will be missed, and he offered her friends and family his condolences.
A spokesperson for the NYPD stated that no arrests had been made at this time and the investigation is pending. Also, the company that owns the charter bus is being determined.
