NORTH PATCHOGUE, SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY – September 15, 2020 – According to an online news report published on dailyvoice.com, a man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Shaber Road and North Ocean Avenue in North Patchogue. The busy Long Island intersection has a history of serious motor vehicle accidents. This collision occurred on Saturday, September 12, 2020. A 24-year-old man from Patchogue, New York, was operating a 2010 Acura in a southbound direction along North Ocean Avenue. The man tried to turn left to travel eastbound on Shaber Road. However, according to Suffolk County Police, the man in the Acura collided with a man driving a Kawasaki motorcycle traveling in a northbound direction along North Ocean Avenue.
According to the news article, the motorcycle driver’s name would not be published and will remain unpublished until the motorcyclist’s next of kin has been notified. The motorcyclist was transported, by ambulance, to Stony Brook University Hospital. The motorcyclist sustained severe personal injuries. A passenger in the Acura also sustained severe personal injuries. Both the passenger and the motorcyclist were taken to the Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue to receive medical treatment of their non-life-threatening injuries.
The motorcycle and Acura were impounded by law enforcement, and the vehicles will be inspected for safety issues. The news report did not state if any charges were filed.
